The Acre Foundation

Our Ecoscheme

For every placement Acre completes we like to give a little more by making a donation to one of our chosen charities on our client’s behalf. If you are a client who has had an individual placed by Acre, please select from one of the three options below and complete your selection online.

  • Cool Earth

Rainforests are worth much more to the human race left standing. Cool Earth is a unique charity that is saving the world’s most endangered rainforests through working with local communities to secure forests at risk of being destroyed within the next 18 months. Cool Earth works to build local and community capacity to make a difference, ensuring that less than 10% of their supporters’ money is spent on administration.

  • Octavia Foundation

The Octavia Foundation’s work is intended to increase the strength and effectiveness of community life; improving local conditions, especially for people in disadvantaged situations, enabling people to take part in public decision-making, and helping them to achieve greater long-term control over their circumstances. Acre have partnered with the Octavia Foundation to develop the ‘Gateways to Work’ programme.

  • ZSL’s Edge of Existence Programme

Elephants, rhinos and pandas may be the poster boys of conservation but many equally unique and threatened species are in danger of slipping unnoticed towards extinction. Your donation will support the Zoological Society of London to raise the profile and initiate conservation of the world’s most Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered (EDGE) species.

Other causes we support

As well as our Ecoscheme, Acre supports a number of charities and other worthwhile causes.

For the past 3 years we have supported GOSH, but this year I challenged my colleagues to chose a different route, with one premise – that we would support causes only which were very personal to Acre employees, ‘charity begins at home as they say!

  • 1. Kiva

Acre gives £100 to every new employee upon joining to loan through Kiva to entrepreneurs in developing countries. Kiva relies on a global network of volunteers and field partners, 100% of every donation goes directly towards funding loans; Kiva does not take a cut or charge interest to their Field Partners. Acre’s support is ongoing; as the loan is repaid, it is reinvested into the funding of another loan to another entrepreneur somewhere in the world.
