Happy New Year

Things might have been rather quiet on the blogging front over the past months, but the Acre team have been very busy outside the virtual sphere on a huge range of initiatives.
We concluded 2014 on a high, with celebrations for our 10-year anniversary – which involved a trip to Paris and a very ‘different’ tour the Louvre Museum. As a team we were very keen to extend this milestone celebration to include our charitable activities within the Acre Foundation.
In an effort to prolong our Paris experience, internal activities all seem to have had a gastronomic theme, highlights being Nadia’s macaroons and Simone’s quiches. The funds raised from these Paris-inspired delights were matched with £500 from Acre, with a total of £700 being donated to the Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan Appeal.
Our ‘charity instead of cards’ campaign for Christmas 2013 raised £680 in total for our chosen charities Octavia, Cool Earth and Zsls, and this was in addition to the £705 allocated by our quarterly Ecoscheme donations, based on successful placements. This means that the Acre Foundation has now overtaken the £20,000 mark, so a sincere ‘thank-you’ to all of our clients who participated in the scheme over the past year.
2014 promises to be an action-packed year for the Acre Foundation, with Lydia getting the team in tip-top shape for a gruelling 24-Peak Challenge to raise funds for a team nominated cause in August. We’re kicking off the year getting our hands dirty by volunteering at the London Wetlands Centre. This is the first initiative in Acre’s re-invigorated volunteer programme, currently navigated by Sara and Bairbre, and enables us to assist in preserving and maintaining this nature reserve in the heart of London. Our director and founder Andy, also plans to get particularly grubby for a good cause with his Tough Mudder challenge in April….photos will be posted in due course!
We look forward to the continued collaboration in our objective of promoting positive environmental and social impact through Acre’s charitable arm, and will keep you updated over the coming months as this develops!Tweet
