An update from Cool Earth - December 2011

Today we received a nice update from our friends at Cool Earth explaining how Acre’s support through our Ecoscheme has helped protect 10 acres of rainforest:

Dear Acre Team,

I’m sure your inbox is stuffed with seasons greeting so forgive me for adding to it. Rather than a Christmas card, we wanted to thank you for all your support with a small reminder of the huge things that Acre Resources has achieved in the rainforest this year.

Annual statement from Cool Earth

I’ve just got back from Peru and was really struck by how obvious the impact of your support is. The communities that Cool Earth works alongside are the only ones in this part of the Amazon to have no logging. They are also healthier, have more profitable co-operatives and, perhaps most importantly, really are in control of their future and their forest. As a result, we have thirty new communities asking to form partnerships with us next year that will triple the size of the protective shield.

As one of our most loyal supporters, this is in huge part down to you. 2011 has been a sea-change year for us in terms of scale and 2012 should double what’s been achieved in the last four years. The more we can work with Acre and your Ecoscheme, the more trees stay standing – as simple as that.

We really look forward to working with you in the New Year and hope you have a wonderful Christmas break.

Best wishes,

Matthew Owen,
Director, Cool Earth
